Customer Reviews - Success Stories
Message from a customer using the SuperCom Suite in RS-232 and TCP/IP environment.
Hi
Just a note to say a big thanks for all integrating Telnet support into the
Supercom TCP/IP protocol.dll, namely XModem.
I have not experienced this level of support from any other company that I
have dealt with.
I also appreciate that Adontec was under no obligation to add this extra
functionality and for this I am very grateful.
Below I have given a brief summary of the application that I have developed
and the problems that I encountered.
Thanks again.

Our company develops multi-function smart card systems, mainly for the
sports sector.
We deploy Electronic Point of Sale (EPOS) terminals in retail outlets which
are used to award and redeem loyalty points to card holders on purchase of
goods.
The Award and Redeem transactions are stored in a file in the terminal. This
file is periodically transferred to a remote host system (Poller) where it
is processed and records inserted into a database.
As the number of retailers increased there was a requirement for more lines
and also to dial a local rate number. It was therefore decided to use an ISP
to host the Poller.
As the EPOS terminals only transfer files using XModem and the ISP uses
Telnet over TCP/IP, we could not port our existing Poller to the ISP. We
needed to develop a new Poller that would allow XModem file transfers over
TCP/IP. It also had to allow multiple simultaneous connections.
After extensive searching on the internet we discovered Adontec's Supercom
TCP/IP.
We purchased the suite and quickly developed the new Poller. We tested it
over the LAN and it worked well. We then installed it at the ISP. It failed.
After extensive investigation we discovered that Telnet adds and requires
certain characters to be added to the packet for correct transmission.
Adontec offered to modify the Supercom source to add this extra
functionality.
This was successful and the Poller now works correctly.
Thanks again
